Trustees

Our trustees are all volunteers and unpaid but each of them plays a vital role within our charity. Together, they have ultimate legal responsibility for all that our charity and churches do.  They are responsible for governance and oversight and have responsibility for our staff and volunteers and also for the safety and well-being of all who come into contact with our churches.

The Charity Commission has summarised the key responsibilities of all charity trustees as being:

1. To ensure that the charity is carrying out its purposes for the public benefit
2. To comply with the charity’s governing document and the law
3. To act in the charity’s best interests
4. To manage the charity’s resources responsibly
5. To act with reasonable care and skill
6. To ensure the charity is accountable

In addition to its trustees, and hundreds of other fantastic volunteers, the charity is reliant upon:

• The pastors, staff and leadership teams of each of our churches. Each church leadership and staff team (also referred to as “elderships”) has pastoral and spiritual responsibility for their respective church. In addition, they are responsible for the implementation for their church of the charity policies and processes created by the trustees. • The Charity Services Team. This team is employed by the trustees to manage the charity day-to-day and they provide a variety of services to our Churches to ease the burdens upon them and to provide benefits of economies of scale, including: financial, employment / HR, Safeguarding, Governance and legal.
